Why use the ABN AMRO app?
You can easily open a current account (bank account) for yourself via the ABN AMRO app. You will then receive the Basic Payment Package: a current account, a debit card and access to online banking services. Watch the video or read below to see how it works.
Download the ABN AMRO app and click 'Open account'. You can apply for a current account with the ABN AMRO app if you:
Don't have a BSN yet? Then you can still open an account. However, you must provide us with your BSN within 90 days after opening your account.

We want to get to know you better so that we can provide you with the best service. That is why we want to ask you to answer a few questions and check that everything is correct. If the data is correct, confirm your application by entering the unique code.
5. You've sent your application!We will check the information you have entered and open your account for you. You will be updated on the status of your request by text message and email within 4 hours after completing the application. If your application is approved, the message will also explain the next steps. Your account will soon be ready to use.
6. Upload your proof of residenceWhen you open an account with a non-Dutch passport or ID, we need to verify that you live in the Netherlands. We therefore need your proof of residence in the Netherlands.
Once your proof of residence is approved you can start using your account or open other products. Read more on proof of residence.

What does the Basic Payment Package contain?The Basic Payment Package contains a current account, a debit card and access to online banking services. It is a flexible payment package, which means you choose what you want in addition to your basic package. For example, you may want to have a credit card or an extra debit card. You only pay for what you use. If something changes, that's no problem. You can easily make changes online. Check out all the fees in one overview.

You can open an account and identify yourself by appointment with the identity documents listed below:
In this case, you can only become a client at an ABN AMRO branch. Make an appointment at one of our branches to do this. You can do this by contacting us (standard call charges apply).
Is it also possible to open just a savings account?No. In order to open an ABN AMRO savings account, you have to have a Basic Payment Package. Once you have opened a bank account, you can open a savings account. This also allows you to apply for a credit card, for example.
The identity document details that have been entered are incorrect. Can I still make changes?After you upload your identity document, you will be asked to verify the details. You can change your name and date of birth if necessary. Your application may be rejected if the details cannot be properly verified. You can then restart the application.
Why do I need to provide an extract from the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP)?We want to be sure that you are who you say you are when you open an account. This helps us to prevent fraud, for example abuse of your current account. For this reason, one of the things we need from you is an extract from the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP). You can request it yourself at your municipality. You can open the account even without the extract, but some features of your current account will not be available in this case, for example deposits and cash withdrawals.
